Dover – The Alliance for Community Transportation (ACT) is pleased to announce an expansion of its non-emergency medical transportation service beginning on July 1, 2015.  The expanded service, dubbed The Community Rides, will bring residents of ACT’s 38-town service area to registered health care providers within the region.

To use the service, clients must submit an application and demonstrate that they are 60 years old or better, or are disabled.  Once a client is registered for the service, he or she can call the COAST Call Center at 1-855-SENH-BUS (toll free) to request a ride.  While the trips are free, they are not guaranteed.  Clients should call at least 1 week in advance of their appointment for the best chance of having their request fulfilled and getting the ride they need.

When riders call the Call Center, our reservationists will work with them to identify the most appropriate transportation provider for their ride.  Sometimes it will be our new Community Rides service, and other times it will be a previously existing service such as Lamprey Health Care, Strafford CAP, Mark Wentworth Home, TASC, or Ready Rides.  Requests for Medicaid-eligible trips will be directed to the callers’ Medicaid transportation broker.

For more information, contact the COAST Call Center at 603-743-5777, Option 2, or callcenter@communityrides.org.
