Officials with the Cooperative Alliance for Seacoast Transportation announced Monday that they have seen a 25 percent uptick in ridership along a popular travel route stretching from Rochester to Portsmouth.
The surge in riders using COAST's Route 2 bus service comes not long after the public transit service implemented a variety of service improvements for weekday commuters last summer.
The bus route, which connects Rochester, Somersworth, Dover, Newington and Portsmouth, is among the heaviest utilized commuter corridors in the region, according to Rad Nichols, executive director of COAST.
